After the welcoming speech, Dr. Heungchong Kim from Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, H.E. Soongu Yoon, South Korean ambassador to the EU and Dr. Gunnar Wiegand from EEAS gave keynote speech on significance of the EU-Asia connectivity. After the opening session, Conceptual Framework of Europe-Asia Connectivity was discussed, chaired by Dr. Julie Gilson from University of Birmingham.

Professor Bersick and Professor Michalski presented "Europe-Asia Connectivity in Times of Security Crises: Concepts, Contexts and Contestations." After that, Professor Michalski with Professor Parker from Uppsala University proposed "The Role of the EU as a Global Connectivity Leader in an Age of Geopolitics." The discussant, Professor Hashim from Asia-Europe Institute in Malaysia, expanded discussion by giving critical comments.
