The speaker aimed to cover some issues regarding Human Rights. 1. Why does the EU focus on Human Rights? -because the EU concerns about an empowered society. -not a romantic notion!!--> are hard core politics Visionaryà major HR violation à hard-core foreign policy 2. Why HR is unpopular? -by design, it is not a popular concept. -it exists in order to protect minority. -minority conceptualisation setting can be varied. -But, people should pay more attention. 3. Are the rest fighting for HR? -HR came from the West -HR faces level of opposition in terms of level of application. 4. Who are you to talk? -Everyone is equally imperfect. -litmus test of HR is not perfect. -Whether or not your willing,… We need independent agents (such as institutions and the media), who can raise and reflect HR issues. |
