On February 1st, former ambassador of EU to the Republic of Korea gave a special lecture via Zoom. The topic of the lecture was 'Indo-Pacific Strategies: shared interests by the EU and Korea.' He discussed about the common interests of two physically distanced countries and possible cooperation between them. He provided a concrete examples based on his research and field experience regarding both continents. The two are not connected only in a vague sense of rule of law or 'connectivity,' but actually share the similar goals of the nation of 21st century. Although how to cooperate or facilitate the interest on each other over interests on the US or China still remains a question, the session ended with a lively discussion between former ambassador, Professor Sunghoon Park, and Professor Jae-Seung Lee who are in charge of Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence at Korea University. Dr. Reiterer promised a further visit to Korea University at the end of the session.
