On November 3, the Jean Monnet EU Centre co-hosted a special lecture titled, "Belgium in the EU: The voice of small countries in a global world" with the KU Nordic-Benelux Centre and GPAS-Europe. H.E. François Bontemps, the new ambassador of Belgium to Korea, presented his insights on bilateral relationships. He stressed the friendly ongoing partnership between the two countries by explaining its long history and the solid foundations built over the last 120 years. Lastly, he mentioned specific aspects of Belgium's current interests in international cooperation including achieving a greener economy, sharing of values, political interests, and academic exchanges. After the lecture, a lively Q&A session followed. In particular, Ja-Hyun Choi, wife of the Belgian ambassador to Seoul, participated in the Q&A session and provided her opinions on the topic at hand. The students also actively participated in the session by asking questions and received insightful lessons on Belgium.
