EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (EU-CHINA CAI)

The EU Society conducted its fifth meeting on November 10th. Zhenhui covered the issue of economic connections between the EU and China.

Understanding the specifics and consequences of the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment, with a special focus on the four areas of Market Access, Sustainable Development, Level of Play Filed, and Dispute Settlement, are the key lecture objectives. In these sectors, China has made significant commitments to open its market and industries to EU enterprises, as well as to establish a far more equitable business and collaboration environment. Despite the fact that this win-win agreement would benefit both parties, the European Parliament has passed a resolution freezing the ratification of the EU-China CIA in reaction to Chinese sanctions on European human rights advocates. As a result, analyzing the surface and underlying causes of this shift is critical for evaluating the existing EU-China relationship and future collaboration.
