On October 27th, the EU Society hosted a fantastic movie night at the International Study Hall at 5:30 p.m. for their members. While watching the movie, the EUS members were assigned some food and drinks.
The German film,The Lives of Others, is about a narrative of Stasi officers spying on East Berlin inhabitants. A secret police agent conducting surveillance on a writer and his lover in East Berlin in 1984 finds himself becoming increasingly absorbed by their lives.
We observed a twisted society without freedom and democracy in the film The Lives of Others. To hide themselves, people wore a heavy political coat in a bright hue. The National Security Agency could conduct an investigation into anyone. Everybody in your immediate vicinity could be a police officer who is watching and investigating you. Bugs could be hiding in every nook and cranny of the house. The societal and human themes raised in the film really need our full attention.
