December 1 Romania’s National Day (Great Union Day)
The EU society conducted its final meeting of the Fall semester 2021 on December 1st, during which Sabina Cristina Bulhac presented Romania's National Day, which coincides on December 1st.
She divided her speech into five sections. The first section is a crash course on history and geography, which gives a quick overview of Romania's location and administrative division. She then illustrated the history and power allocation among Romania's King and Party to explain why 1 December 1981 is National Day. Romania's democratic process has been extremely difficult since WWII. Many individuals died in various wars and protests in order to overthrow the regime. Democracy and civil liberties had been established until the National Salvation Front came to power. Romania did not become a member of the European Union until 2007. Romania will have the greatest economic growth rate in the EU by 2021. She provided unusual and traditional cuisine, attire, and music in the latter section of the presentation, which impressed us considerably.
