European Union Humanitarian Aid towards North Korea

EUS’ third meeting, Vanessa gave a presentation about the EU’s humanitarian aid towards North Korea. Vanessa explained the different types of humanitarian aid, and how they are given in response to specific catastrophic events in North Korea, such as floodings and other natural disasters. She also talked about the difficulties in providing efficient aid that is distributed equally in North Korea, especially since helpers are not always allowed to move freely in the country and corruption at times prevents the aid from reaching the most vulnerable groups in society. After the presentation, members discussed among other things whether humanitarian aid should continue to be given to North Korea despite the difficulties and inefficiencies. The meeting ended with giving out free dinner to all members.
