     In session 9, prof. Chung lectured on education and multilingualism in the EU. In the first hour, the professor outlined the policy instruments for education and training in the EU. He focused on the Education and Training 2020 initiative(ET 2020), which supports children from birth to compulsory school age. 

   Next, he covered the eight areas of E&T policies. They include early childhood education, school policy, vocational education and training (VET), adult learning, higher education, international cooperation and policy dialogue, multilingualism, and migrant education.

   Finally, prof. Chung covered multilingualism in the EU. Multilingualism promotes linguistic diversity and plays a vital role in European integration. At the member-state level, states cooperate to improve language teaching in schools. At the EU level, the European Commission encourages citizens to learn at least two foreign languages and begin learning them early. 

   After the lecture, the professor and students exchanged their opinions on the lecture topic and had an enjoyable time together.
