Prof. Sunghoon Park from Korea University GSIS will be leading sessions 4,5 and 6. Prof. Park is a renowned EU scholar and economist in South Korea. In today's session, the professor lectured on the three processes of European integration. During the first half of the session, the professor explained the four different types of regional integration: institutional vs. market-driven and deep vs. shallow. Then, based on these concepts, the professor explained the four different stages of economic integration: FTA, customs union, common market, economic union, and full economic integration. Finally, in the latter half of the class, the professor elaborated on the three types of EU integration processes: deepening, widening, and enlargement. Throughout the lecture, the professor and the students exchanged intriguing questions on the lecture topic and had enjoyable discussions.
