Professor Jae-Seung Lee gave a lecture on ‘Europe’s Energy Policy and Energy Transition.’ Some of the major issues regarding energy in Europe are renewable energy, energy security, nuclear energy and energy system integration. The discussion on Europe’s energy got more attention as the war in Eastern Europe had limited the energy supplied for most of the countries and is hindering the green transition to renewable energy. Th Energy Union is built in Europe to increase the security, integrate the market, be more efficient, decarbonize the economy and research together to increase the competitiveness of overall European energy sector. As the gas pipe that is interconnected throughout Europe is now in general, how to fare with the problem of Europe’s dependency on Russian Gas is becoming a problem. Another significant topic is debate on nuclear energy. In Europe’s pursue of the green deal, nuclear is discussed and considered as the alternative, but entails serious debates.
