Dear all NEAR partners, 

As an implementation of NEAR Special Lecture, NCRE launched its diplomatic seminar series titled "Europe 2017- New Challenges, New Beginnings."As the first lecture of this series, NCRE invited  David Taylor, New Zealand Ambassador to the European Union, NATO and Sweden. This event was held at Undercroft 101 at University of Canterbury. The number of participants from UC and NCRE were 50. 

David Taylor spoke for 20 mins to an audience of students, academics and members of the public. His presentation was followed with a Q&A session with the audience. David’s speech focused on the future relations between New Zealand and the EU, especially in light of Brexit. Further to this he discussed the Free Trade Agreement that New Zealand and the EU will start negotiations on shortly, and the potential that such an agreement would hold for both sides. He also touched upon briefly the relationship between New Zealand and Sweden and its importance.
