Outlines

(up to 5 points)

1.      Discussing counterfactual thinking and theory and its usefulness to the understanding of history and international relations.

2. The eight criteria for plausible-world counterfactuals.

3. Some key counterfactuals occurred to UK decision makers regarding the 2011 Libya crisis.

4. The UK policy would have been largely the same for the humanitarian crisis was exaggerated and the UK engaged almost exclusively for national interest-related reasons.

5. The values and principles of the revolutionaries were the very same ones taken for granted in the UK, so the intervention would amount to an extension of British soft power and cultural influence
