On November 21, KU-KIEP-SBS EU Centre organized the international conference “Enhancing Entrepreneurship and Job Creation in Europe and Korea: Current State, Obstacles and Cures,” co-hosted by Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), Korean-German Academy of Economics and Management (KDGW) & the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Seoul Office and sponsored by BMW Korea & European Commission. Current issues related to labor markets both in Korea and Europe such as youth unemployment, job creation and entrepreneurship were actively discussed at this conference.
The opening remarks was made by Prof. Sung-Hoon Park (Korea University, President of KDGW). Furthermore, congratulatory remarks were given by Mr. Sven Schwersensky (Resident Representative, FES-Korea Office) and Dr. Rolf Schuster (Deputy Head of Mission, Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Korea).
The Award Ceremony of BMW Academic Prize was held after the first session, convened by the CEO of BMW Group Korea, Dr. Hyojoon Kim. Prof. Taebock Song (Hannam University) won the award for his recearch dissertation on.
Prof. Susanne Weber (University of Munich, Germany) delivered a targeted presentation on enhancing entrepreneurship in Europe and Korea, "Entrepreneurship in European Countries and Supporting Measures for startups."
We appreciate your participation and interests on the issues we discussed at the conference. We hope this conference would promote and raise the knowledge about the relationship between Europe and Korea in terms of creating job opportunities in both.
