2014 Fall European Union Delegation to Korea Trainee Recruitment

The Political section of the European Union Delegation in Korea is offering an internship for undergraduates from Korea, starting from September 2014. The traineeship would typically entail researching and analysing information and documentation, replying to queries, participating in team or external meetings and conferences, linguistic support, etc.

1. WHAT WE OFFER
Traineeship at the European Union Delegation is unpaid. As a public sector organisation, we are unable to offer you the compensation which you may be able to receive in the private sector. We, however, offer a unique opportunity to gain a hands-on work experience of the European Union, the world's largest trading entity and the most prominent organisation transcending the nation state.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE;

- First-hand understanding of the objectives and policies of the European Union & the field of foreign policy

- Practical knowledge of the working of the EU Delegation and the EU more generally.

- Enable you to acquire professional experience in your everyday work contacts & interact with different stake-holders.

- Enable you to further and to put into practice the knowledge you have acquired during your studies or professional careers.

2. DURATION
While the term of your traineeship may vary, we recommend a duration of at least 3 months and preferably 6 months (maximum duration) full time Mon-Fri, 9:30am-5:30pm. You may devote part of the period to preparing a postgraduate thesis or an academic paper, though we prefer a full time commitment. Admission to internship does not confer the status of officials or contractual staff.

3. WHO CAN APPLY?
- You have concluded minimum 5 semesters of university studies in relevant fields.
- You must have a thorough knowledge of spoken and written English and native speaker level of Korean.
- You must be age 30 or under as we aim at young graduates at the beginning of their careers. Exceptions can be made if there is a good reason.
- You are confident in using standard office software (document processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and internet browser).

- You are interested in promoting EU and Europe to Korea.

* Qualifications: Currently, the majority of applications come from candidates with qualifications in European Studies, International Relations, Economics and Other Social Sciences. However, we are also ready to take on trainees with other qualifications if they fit the current work demands of the Delegation. For further information, please contact us.

4. APPLICATIONS
All traineeships with the European Union Delegation in Korea are based in Seoul.

There is no specific application form. If you wish to apply, please send below with MS-WORD or PDF:
- Application letter explaining briefly your motivation.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- Clear copy of your passport, identity card, stating your name, first name, date and place of birth, as well as your nationality.

* Attention: Please DO NOT send originals of your diplomas etc. We will not return any documents provided with an application. Please DO NOT attach copies of your PhD thesis, or any publications or studies you have published or have been involved in publishing. If we accept your application, we will ask you to provide supporting documents for any university diplomas/degrees, ongoing studies, work experience, or other references declared in your application.
