[2014 Fall European Union Delegation to Korea Trainee Recruitment]

The Trade section of the European Union Delegation in Korea is offering an in-service training for young university graduates from Korea, starting from November 2014. This training involves practical work experience. The intern will contribute to the work of the EU Delegation's Trade section which is to implement the EU trade policy vis-à-vis Korea. Our work focuses on the proper implementation of the EU-Korea FTA and ensuring that international trade rules are properly abided by in Korea, for the benefit of EU businesses. Our work involves frequent formal meetings with the Korean Government, meetings with EU businesses, legal, economic and political analysis. Tasks expected from interns would typically be equivalent to that given to junior executive-grade staff e.g. researching and analysing information, contributing to legal and economic analysis, provide high quality reports in English, linguistic support, support to meetings with Korean Government and high level visits from EU officials , replying to queries, participating in team meetings, etc.

1. PURPOSE OF TRAINEESHIPS

A traineeship with the European Union Delegation in Korea will provide interns with:
- a better understanding of the objectives and policies of the European Union.
- practical knowledge of the working of the EU Delegation and the EU more generally.
- valuable work experience on trade and economic policies, on trade diplomacy, and daily work with

EU businesses and Korean Government.
- a possibility to put into practice the knowledge interns have acquired during their studies or professional careers.

2. DURATION

While the term of your traineeship may vary, we recommend a duration of at least 3 months and preferably 6 months (maximum duration). You may devote part of the period to preparing a postgraduate thesis or an academic paper,

though we would prefer a full time commitment.
Admission to in-service training does not confer on trainees the status of officials or other servants of the Communities.

It in no way entitles you to be appointed by the European Commission.

A traineeship at the European Union Delegation is unpaid. As a public sector organisation, we are unable to offer you

the compensation which you may be able to receive in the private sector. We, however, offer a unique opportunity

to gain a hands-on work experience of the European Union, the world's largest trading entity and the most prominent organisation transcending the nation state.
