On May 23, Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at Korea University and GPAS-Europe co-hosted a special lecture on 'Risk Management and Emerging Europe.' The invited guest lecturer was Yang-Hyeon Jo from Yonsei University, a Korean scholar on EU studies. He explained about how to manage risk and the methodologies for the assessment. A country's risk is assessed by various institutions including international institutions and private financial institutions. The export credit guarantee, official financing support or the mixture of the two is generally assessed. He introduced about the general categories of country risk on scale on 0 to 7, determined by income, financial factors and political risks. Although quantitative method is easy to look for, qualitative methods are also used, usually for seeking political and social stability. The session ended with Q&A sessions with students.
