The EU Society at Korea University held its first session of Spring 2024 on March 26, featuring greetings from the leadership, including President Jinwoo Chon and Vice President Vidic Tamara.  

Jinwoo Chon presented the goals and plans for the semester, outlining attendance rules, activities, and membership tracks for both new and returning members. Then, after breaking up into small groups to get to know one another, there was an enjoyable and informative Kahoot quiz about the EU. 

The session's highlight was Ngo Khanh Linh's presentation on "The Shifting Landscape of Peace in Europe," addressing post-WWII Europe's rebuilding efforts, current geopolitical tensions, Russian aggression in Ukraine, cybersecurity threats, and the EU's strategic responses, including NATO's evolving role.

The subsequent discussion was lively and insightful, focusing on budgetary constraints affecting NATO, the EU, and the USA, and the impact of upcoming elections in these regions. A notable topic was the differing views on the level of US support for Ukraine, with some advocating for increased EU involvement while noting a trend towards US isolationism.  

Despite differing opinions, the discussion remained constructive, prompting members to reflect on their future actions. The session concluded with an invitation for new members to consider their presentation topics for the next meeting, encouraging continued enthusiasm and engagement.
